Summer Steelhead |
Aug 19, 2008 |
Sooo, Here is a report. Its summer, the water is very low and clear and sneaky. If you want to catch summer run steelhead right now you will have to know right where they are, and fish very small light and carefully. Try a leader around fifteen feet, tippet of around six pounds and a size eight or ten fly, something dark and buggy.s. Right now its like the whole river is holding its breath, there are summer steelhead, summer salmon, and lots of cutthroat but everything is just waiting. In about 3 weeks the water will cool and YES, the October caddis will start to bust. If you ever wanted to catch a bunch of cool fish on dries that’s the time
