Wide open summer runs |
Jul 5, 2008 |
I’ve been down south for a few days and away from the computer. The Kalama bumped up with snow melt which made for more great nymphin. All the fish were chrome and the weather was great. Hot sunny 9 to five floats with plenty of action and a few cold beers. This fish of Dylan’s hit after the eighth pass, that’s two rods, eight passes through the slot, or sixteen flies past its head and it got hungry. That’s typical of summer runs, super aggressive but hyper finicky about presentation. If it goes through the way they want it they go berserk, otherwise they could care less. These guys managed to hook four more chromers but our landing % was a little off. That was probably my fault. Today on the sol duc was off the hook good. We had four to the boat by 9 am all beautiful chromers, and lost 2 others. It started getting damp out so we just split. Back down south next week, I have open days, it’s really really as good as it gets. Jim
