Hey now,
The rivers have all been out for a few days, I kinda started to get itchy, could feel the bugs crawlin round under my skin, figured it was time to get out so I headed on down south to a secret creek everyone knows about. This creek is way down south so I fueled up the truck and hit the road at the crack of 10 or so. Rolled out of town for about 50 miles, past the bogie, past the pretty girl selling peaches, past the Stucky’s, until the air smelled distinctly of fried okra…..way down south. Made a left and parked behind the other 5 or 6 cars.
No one was catching anything, the river looked perfect, everyone was pissed. I fished for about 2 hours for a couple of whitefish and then got a decent bite. After a few fly changes, leader switch, bank side prayer I nailed a decent 6-pound hatchery buck. The fish ate a dark red yarn puff a little bigger than a standard glow bug. I carried him back to the car and started again at the top. Right away I farmed off a decent chromer on a really good bite. When the hook came loose the whole rig flew into the tree behind me. I fished all the way to the deadline without another good fish on but hooked a fish on my way back up. I was cold bored and tired by this point and failed the hook set test. I wished I had brought a fishing guide to mock and ridicule me but I was alone so I did the best I could on my own. I got back to where I had hooked the 2nd fish and TOTALLY farmed another. I didn’t even bother to curse; it was clear what the problem was. I suck.
Any way, 1 for 4 today on the creeks, heading out to deer hunt for the rest of the week. Be back after xxxmas
