Fishing Reports - Fly Fishing on the Olympic Peninsula

Things are good

Nov 20, 2007

Well,
We got some nice shiny winter hatchery steelhead! Right on, I’m super excited I love these beautiful little fish and the super mellow fun and easy fishery they help to create. I just dug out my e21088 super nymph stick and fine-tuned the new smoker. The main show of course is the bogie but the little bastards show up everywhere and we always seem to be able to find a secret stash somewhere to work on away from the crowds. Check the Wa Dept of f an w smolt plant report to find out where to look.
We also nailed a couple of monster kings this week, plus my buddies got some chromer silvers. With the river levels great and dropping closer to more perfecter every day there aren’t any bad bets. The water is cold so stick to dead drifting/nymphing and head for the hatcheries or the upper rivers. If you want to do it the hard way go to just above tidewater and swing around high tide. You could hit a late king or silver or a hatchery brat or an early native or snider fish. You wont find any crowds.
